The Feminist Culture of Peace

The International Women's* Theater Festival (IF*TF) is an event to strengthen the position and perspectives of women* in contemporary theater. The aim is to promote the discussion of gender equality on a cultural level and to establish a further education programme for the professionalization of theater makers.

For eight years now, the IFTS festival has been creating important impulses for strengthening feminist projects at state and national level. Through our participation in “THE MAGDALENA PROJECT”, we are internationally networked and promote the visibility of this network in the independent theater scene in Germany.

IF*TF 2024

For the diverse program, we are looking for artistic responses for a diverse audience. The focus is on this year's theme “Safer Spaces - The Feminist Culture of Peace”. Among other things, we want to explore the following topics together.

  • What artistic strategies or methods have theater makers and artists developed in recent years to create a non-violent working environment?
  • How do artists deal with conflict?
  • How do directors, authors, actors and musicians create a solidary and safe future for women*?

We are looking for:

  • Theater productions and performances
  • Performances for public spaces - e.g. audio walks, site-specific performances etc.
  • Workshop leaders in the performing arts and music
  • DJ*anes and live musicians/bands
  • Video art, short films, video installations etc. for our “Pandora's Box” format
