TRUTH Spring/Summer Tour

2 June 2018
Venue:
Stroud Lansdowne Hall
8pm (+singing workshop 4pm to 6pm)

TRUTH is a thought provoking song theatre performance that looks at the once-simple notion of truth in our messy modern age. Composer/creator Helen Chadwick and Olivier Award-winning director/choreographer Steven Hoggett work with personal stories collected from individuals all over the world – from Hackney to Norway and from Manchester to Mexico. These stories describe a moment when someone told a truth or a lie, and the impact of doing so on their life; testimonies that are by turns devastating, hilarious and touching.

“When truth threatened my life, I told a lie…..”

TRUTH has been created in the world of post-TRUTH and fake news. How does telling the truth or lying shape our lives? What is the impact of speaking the truth on a family, a person, a country? Does the truth exist?

The vocal and gestural world of the four performers charge the power of the material with emotion and beauty, inviting us to reflect on our own truth and lies.

From the stories told…. a woman would not be alive if she had told the truth, a man would be dead if he had not.
