Brisbane-based theatre director, writer, dramaturg, producer and actor. I interpret existing works and pursue the development of new writing in theatre, music theatre, opera, theatre for young people and theatre in galleries. Regular guest lecturer/sessional tutor in acting, directing, dramaturgy. Mentor for emerging theatre artists. Chair of Backbone Youth Arts. Particular interest: recognition of women's achievements and stories about people not usually represented in the mainstream. Choice of projects influenced by belief that accessibility to the arts is every person's right. Playwriting includes THE MATILDA WOMEN about pioneering Queensland women; BUMPY ANGELS about relinquishing single mothers in the 1950s; THE PINK TWINS about Dorothy and Moyia O'Brien and their work with people with disabilities. Co-creator with NZ-based Helen Moulder of MEETING KARPOVSKY and PLAYING MISS HAVISHAM.
