Deborah Lake Fortson

I am a performer and playwright. I make my own work and I write for others. I have been working for many decades on issues related to the lives of women, coming out of the women's movement of the '70's in the US and out of the alternative forms of theater generated here then, too. I am interested in our interior lives and how to translate them into theater. And how we shape our lives in relation to others. I have been working for ten years with a documentary play about girls and boys who were trafficked into the sex industry. I am writing a play about my mother, the last years with her. And working on site specific pop up theater by women and girls, to stand together on issues that concern us all.
