Documentary | Ventre em Teia (Womb in the Web)

3rd Edition (2025)

In the middle of autumn 2025, for ten days, in a theatre in the middle of a forest right in the centre of the city of Mairiporã, a festival took place. 

The third edition of ‘Ventre em Teia – Encontro de Mulheres da Cena’ (Womb in Web – Meeting of Women of the Scene) blossomed among trees, rivers, birds, capybaras, asphalt, marmosets, flowers, cold nights and sunny days.
 

For days, women from different places came together to share their desires, struggles and art. Artists from the interior of São Paulo, the state capital, Paraná, Pernambuco, Peru, Ecuador and Spain became involved in a great web of affection and exchange. Day after day, a new point was established and from it emanated the scent of discovery. With every conversation in the foyer, every walk to lunch, countless thoughts were woven together, reflections ranging from the most intimate to the broadest debate. Where do we stand in our struggles? How do I locate myself in the world? Where do we stand in the legacy of the arts? How do we occupy our spaces? Who will answer our call? How do we strengthen ourselves with each other's work? What is my way of being? How do we break through barriers, overcome prejudice? Who walks beside me? How do we broaden our understanding of femininity itself, of the diversity of bodies? Which streets do I still want to walk down? Which ties do we still have to cut?
 
I still feel excited when I remember small moments that are as subtle as they are sublime... A small flower that was brought as a gift... or Juquery snuggling up to the tender touch of a witch... the slow walk of two ladies leaving the theatre happily... the curious gaze of a child at a small box of images...

When I think of social mobilisation, of collective enchantment, I think of encounters like this. I think of works like the ones we have experienced here in our shared theatre home.
