Barbara Carvalho honoured

We celebrate with immense pride the powerful achievement of Bárbara Luci Carvalho, awarded the Tony Sender Prize in Frankfurt am Main!

Barbara’s work in Frankfurt with The International Womxn Festival over the past years has been a transformative force for immigrant artists and womxn of color. Through her artistic direction, she has carved out spaces of visibility, dignity, and resistance - safer spaces where our stories are centered, our bodies are valued, and our voices are no longer silenced.

Her leadership embodies an intersectional feminist practice, rooted in community, decolonial thought, and the belief that art is not only expression — it is liberation. She reminds us that when marginalised women rise, entire communities rise with them.

Barbara Carvalho receiving the Tony Sender Prize, December 2025Our gratitude also goes to the Magdalena Project Network, whose international solidarity continues to strengthen feminist artistic movements across borders, connecting women who create, resist, and transform.

Today, we honour Barbara for her courage, her vision, and her deeply political commitment to justice.

Congratulations, Barbara — your victory is a victory for all of us.

We are also happy to celebrate Anne Breick, who received the prize alongside Barbara. Her artistic work with music strengthens our collective efforts toward a more just, inclusive, and feminist cultural landscape. Congratulations, Anne — your recognition is well deserved!
