KINETIC JAZZ FESTIVAL

Every night of the festival Kinetic Energy celebrates female creativity and the maternal with their dance-poem "GO! WALK!", inspired by the birth cycle and the Tao (which is often described as The Mother of Everything). On the opening night Australia's great jazz artist Sandy Evans is featured with her Trio. On the Saturday wonderful female vocalist Nicky Crayson teams up with Paul McNamara.

The festival is co-produced by Jepke Goudsmit of Kinetic Energy Theatre Company.

We're hoping the event will become annual, in support of original composition in an acoustic environment, with links to other performance disciplines; and to create an avenue and stimulus for female local creative Jazz artists, in order to bring more balance in an art form that's still very male dominated.
