Tiyatro Boyali Kus Summer Workshops & Open Rehearsal
Theatre of the Oppressed Workshops
July 20 - August 9, 2009
Istanbul &Tenedos

Tiyatro Boyali Kus summer workshops will be on the techniques of the Theatre of the Oppressed invented by Augusto Boal. Our goal is to provide a space for the participants who want to learn about the techniques of the Theatre of the Oppressed and/or who want to improve their knowledge and skills in these techniques. The workshops are open to all participants all over the world. The language of the workshops will be Turkish and English.


I. Introduction to Theatre of the Oppressed Techniques:
Forum Theatre Workshop: Construction of Forum Plays and Forum Acting
July 20-24, 2009 (Monday-Friday) 10 am-5 pm

In this workshop, we will focus on one of the techniques of the Theatre of the Oppressed, Forum Theatre. We will explore the games and exercises that consist of the arsenal of the Theatre of the Oppressed. In the workshop we will investigate how we can construct the forum play and how we should act in forum theatre. This workshop will be based upon the creation process of Forum Theatre.

Fees: 300 Euro (Students and unemployed 250 Euro) Lunch and coffee breaks are included.

II. Theatre of the Oppressed Techniques:
Facilitating, Jokering and Cops in the Head
July 27-31, 2009 (Monday- Friday) 10 am-5 pm

In this workshop, we will focus on the facilitating and jokering features of the Theatre of the Oppressed. We will explore how we can facilitate the workshops with the communities as well as jokering styles in forum performances. We will also work on one of the techniques of Rainbow of Desire, Cops in the Head. The goal of this workshop is to realize the techniques of the Theatre of the Oppressed in our lives.

This workshop is open to the ones who have already participated in the Theatre of the Oppressed workshops.

III. OPEN REHEARSAL August 5-9, 2009
Theatre of the Oppressed Summer Camp in Tenedos/Bozcaada with Women

This summer, Tiyatro Boyali Kus will camp at Sulubahce bay at the Aegean island, Tenedos with women participants. Tiyatro Boyali Kus continues the Theatre of the oppressed journey in a different setting … With women only!

Tiyatro Boyali Kus is preparing a new forum play and she will do her rehearsals at the camp site of Tenedos (Bozcaada) with the participants who are willing to participate our OPEN REHEARSAL!

The ones who are willing to play games with us, who are willing to observe/contribute the rehearsals will be kindly welcomed!

The camp at Tenedos will be the rehearsal of our new forum play! We will play games, do exercises and rehearsals; but also we will have fun!

FEES
Camping for one person per night: approximately 8 Euros (17, 5 Turkish Lira)
Camping for one person with her own tent per night: approximately 6 Euros (12,5 Turkish Lira)

Open Rehearsal Participation Fee: approximately 50 euros (100 TL.)
Student and unemployed discount: approximately 35 euros (75 TL.)

Accommodation and transportation expenses are participants’ responsibility.
There are two bus companies Truva and Kamil Koc will take you to Geyikli-Bozcaada. The bus takes approximately 7 hours from Istanbul bus terminal. The ferry is only 30 minutes long. For more information, you can contact us.
The camping site is 6 km far from the center, located in Sulubahce bay.
